Nearby the Loch Fleet nature reserve (a designated SSSI) attracts a wide variety of wading birds and guided tours of this wonderfully tranquil tidal basin can be arranged. The Sutherland hills are a short drive away and there are forest walks nearby. Just 10 miles away lies Dunrobin Castle spiritual home of the clan Sutherland since the 13th century. Today’s visitors can enjoy falconry displays and wander through spectacular gardens designed by Sir Charles Barry and inspired by the Palace of Versailles.
