Numerous fell and riverside walks can be followed from the doorstep and the many delights of the Lakes Dales and Borders are within easy reach. Barnard Castle is a short drive and Hexham and Durham are under 35 miles. Riding and coarse fishing available locally. Shops and inns 300 yards.

Located in the small market town of Stanhope the gateway to Durham Dales this 200 year old detached cottage has been lovingly restored. Retaining character and charm with its inglenook fireplaces polished floorboard and stain glass. Stanhope has a good selection of pubs cafes and shops along with Durham Dales Centre and castle gardens. The Weardale Railway (seasonal) has a station in the town. This is an ideal location for walking cycling (on the Coast to Coast route) fishing and pony trekking. Kilhope Lead Mining Museum and Hamsterley Forest are all nearby. Durham is well worth a visit with its Norman Castle and Cathedral only half an hours drive while Hadrian’s wall is within 30 miles. Pub serving food 50 yards and shop within 300 yards.
